Millamolong Ashton Memorial Tournament Report and Results
We had 13 teams nominated across 4 grades, but with very wet weather forecast, the tournament committee decided on Friday to give teams the option of withdrawing. Eight teams took their chances with the weather and were rewarded with two days of fun, competitive polo. Weather on Saturday was perfect, cool and dry. The forecast rain arrived conveniently on Saturday evening after play had finished with an inch falling in the space of a couple of hours, so we delayed play on Sunday until midday to give the field a chance to dry out and completed all the matches successfully with the field holding up remarkably well. On Saturday evening, the players, grooms, family and friends gathered for an enjoyable dinner at the Royal Hotel in Canowindra. Millamolong Polo Club would like to thank everyone for their support.

A grade - Jamie Ashton Memorial Cup - cancelled due to rain
B Grade Winners - James Ashton Memorial Cup - won by Jemalong (Quentin Wedmore, Graham Osborne, Ben Sweetland, Shane Martin).
B Grade Runners up - Millamolong (Alec Thompson, Charlie Boyd/Dick Richardson, Eugene Marais, Andrew Ashton).
C Grade Winners - Caroline Price Memorial Cup - won by Canowindra (Angus Crossing/Renee Linke, Dick Rodgers, Lachie McGuinness, David Williams).
C Grade Runners up - Carcoar (Hamish Dowling, Ben Crossing, Ian Webber, Sinclair Stratton).
B Grade Best pony - Shane Martin’s grey mare: Meerkat
C Grade Best Pony - Hamish Dowling’s chestnut mare: Prim

Tournament rules:
A-grade and sub-zero grade will be played as a single continuous match over two days.
B and C grades will be the usual Saturday semi-finals and Sunday finals.

This date coincides with a big local community event - The Canowindra International Balloon Challenge, where world champion balloon pilots will be in action.
