100 YEARS ON, SCONE POLO CLUB HONOURS THE COURAGE OF THE LIGHT HORSE

On 14-15 October 2017, the Scone Polo Club will honour the courage of the Australian Light Horsemen that took part in what is widely regarded as the most courageous and successful Cavalry Charge.

“The Charge of Beersheba” by the 4th Light Horse Regiment and 12th Light Horse Regiment on 31 October 1917 broke the stalemate in the Palestine Campaign during the First World War and eventually lead to the liberation of Jerusalem in December 1917.

The 12th Light Horse Regiment consisted of many officers and soldiers from the Hunter Region.

Family members with connections to “the Charge of Beersheba” and members of the general public are warmly invited to attend our weekend of Polo commemorating the courage of these Light Horsemen, 100 years ago.

The Scone Polo Club is keenly interested in documenting family links with the Scone Polo and “the Charge of Beersheba”.
