Polo NSW is inviting expressions of interest from young players to attend an exclusive Polo Skills Camp in New Zealand this December, led by renowned horseman and coach Ross Ainsley.
This two-day intensive program is designed to significantly enhance core riding ability, build stronger habits in the saddle, and develop a deeper understanding of how to ride and school polo ponies effectively. The camp is not suited to beginners—participants must already be confident, competent riders who are comfortable adapting to different horses and capable of working them at a solid level.
Ideal for motivated young players who recognise that great riding is a lifelong pursuit, the experience will include extensive beach riding, group schooling sessions, work with young horses, and beach chukkas. Riders need only bring boots, a helmet, an open mind, and a strong desire to learn—leaving with improved riding performance and valuable insight into elevating both their string and their overall game.
While the camp is open in age, it is best suited to participants aged 15 years and over, as shared accommodation and independent travel arrangements are expected. Attendees will organise and fund their own airfares, transport, and accommodation, with coordination support provided by Polo NSW. Importantly, all tuition and coaching are offered free of charge.
The proposed itinerary includes travel on Thursday, camp sessions on Friday and Saturday, and a return home on Sunday. At this stage, Polo NSW is seeking to gauge interest to confirm participant numbers and finalise details.
This opportunity forms part of the broader Polo NSW Youth Accelerator Program, supporting the continued development of the state’s most promising young riders.
