Polo NSW is now calling for expressions of interest in upcoming Umpire and Coaching Accreditation Clinics, to be delivered by Anto White at Windsor Polo Club during the April high-goal tournament season in the Hawkesbury Basin.
Whether you are an experienced coach seeking formal accreditation or beginning your coaching journey, the Coaching and Umpire Accreditation Programs developed by the Australian Polo Federation are designed to support your progression.
This initiative introduces Australia’s first nationally structured framework for polo coaching, aligning the sport with recognised best-practice standards across the broader sporting landscape. Accreditation ensures every coach—volunteer or professional—has access to the knowledge, resources, and recognition required to succeed.
Why Become Accredited?
Professional Standards APF accreditation is a mark of trust. It demonstrates that you have met the Federation’s rigorous standards and are committed to delivering safe, professional, and effective coaching. For those serious about building a career in polo coaching, this is the pathway to credibility and opportunity.
Skill Development & Growth The program is designed to refine your coaching skills, enhance your knowledge, and ensure ongoing professional development. You’ll benefit from access to new resources, practical assessments, and alignment with industry best practice. The APF has consulted with the Australian Sports Commission and Sports Integrity Australia to ensure our program is up to date and relevant.
Insurance & Protection
- Volunteer Coaches
Accredited volunteer coaches are covered under the APF Insurance Scheme when engaged at sanctioned APF events, polo schools, practice chukkas, and clinics. Volunteer coaches may also be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses such as travel when coaching at sanctioned APF activities.
- Professional Coaches at APF events
For coaches delivering paid coaching services at APF sanctioned and approved activities for affiliated members at affiliated clubs the APF has partnered with Affinity Insurance to provide access to low cost cover, including liability protection of up to $20 million.
- Professional Coaches For coaches delivering paid coaching services outside of APF sanctioned events and activities Affinity can provide competitive cover.
Recognition & Opportunity Accredited coaches will be promoted on the APF and Polo NSW website, showcasing their skills to the polo community. Accreditation signals to players, parents, and peers that you are committed to the highest standards, opening the door to higher-level coaching opportunities and professional respect.
The Program Structure
Every coach begins with the Coaching Fundamentals Program, designed to establish a strong foundation. Once completed, coaches can progress to practical assessments that develop applied expertise.
The program will be reviewed annually to integrate new research, innovation, and best practices, ensuring it remains cutting-edge. Continuing professional development opportunities will also be offered to support lifelong learning.
To express your interest, kindly reach out to the office at nsw@australianpolo.com.au before the 14th of March.
