RESULTS: COUNTESS OF DUDLEY CUP, 14 & 15 MAY 2005

Millamolong A narrowly defeated Scone to win the Countess of Dudley Cup for 2005. It was a thrilling final with the teams never more than 1 goal difference until the 6th chukka. The final score was 10-9 reflecting the closely fought battle. Teams -

Millamolong A: James Darmody -1, Mark Field 4, Damien Johnston 6, Joe Curran 3 = 12

Scone: K. Sullivan 2, S Gunn 2, Roger Lynch 4 (captain), Jim Gilmore 4 = 12

The subsidiary final between Jemalong and Ellerston was dramatic & spectacular with Jemalong taking an early lead but Ellerston proving a tough opponent. Jemalong won the L.T. Watson Memorial Trophy; teams -

Ellerston: Neil Craig, 2, Hamish Cottier 3, Stuart Gilmore 4 (captain), Tony Johnson, 2 = 11

Jemalong: Markus Kahlbetzer 1, Andreas Llorente 2, Simon Walker 4, Andrew Williams 4 = 11

Millamolong B scooped more silver in the B Grade final where they played Richmond in a 5 chukka match for the Sir J.J. Garvan Trophy; teams -

Millamolong B: Wal Ashton 2, Chris Hannon 2, Ferg Gould 4, Nick Wills -1 = 7

Richmond: Peter Higgins 1, Greg Ballard 2, Rob Ballard 4, Marty Ingham 0 = 7

It was great to see so many NSWPA Members & Friends supporting the tournament and a big thank you to everyone involved in the organisation.

The A Grade matches will be on Sunday at approx 12.30/1pm.

R.W. Farrell Trophy - Champion Novice Pony (a novice pony is a pony playing its first season of tournament polo, excluding inter-club tournaments. The season being 1st October to 30th September.
Vychan Trophy - team of 3 ponies owned and played by a player rated on 2 goals or less
Curtis Skene Trophy - For the most improved player (no handicap limit applies and player must play in the Dudley Cup Tournament)

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Countess of Dudley Cup Tournament is one of this country's most traditional & prestigious trophies, so make a note in your diary to join us on the weekend.

Details: It will be held at Windsor Polo Club on 14 & 15 May 2005. Everybody welcome, entry $15 per person (under 15 free). NSW Polo Association Members free entry with Membership Passes. Front row parking free, but not bookable. Food & drink available from the Clubhouse.

This 12 goal tournament, held to decide the premier Club in NSW, is the State Club Championships, and some of Australia's highest rated players will complete to win its trophy, The Countess of Dudley Cup, which was first presented at the inaugural tournament in 1910.

Directions to Windsor Polo Club: travel up the M2 Motorway to the end and trun right into Old Windsor Road. Pass through Windsor & on to Richmond, driving past the RAAF Base. AT Richmond drive through the shopping village and straight on onto Windsor Polo Club which is located approx 1km further on the left.
